Co-presented by The Japan Foundation & Tokyo International Film Festival TIFF Lounge
Venue: LEXUS MEETS...(Tokyo Midtown Hibiya 1F) Co-presented by: The Japan Foundation
The Japan Foundation and the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) are pleased to announce that we will continue to co-present the TIFF Lounge at the 37th TIFF. In the fifth year of the event, we have an exciting lineup of five talk sessions with a rich variety of guests, selected by a committee that includes director Kore-eda Hirokazu.
This year, the TIFF Lounge will be held in the new venue Lexus Meets… , located in the same building as many of the festival’s main venues. We will invite acclaimed and emerging filmmakers from a variety of countries and regions in Asia and beyond to Tokyo, and provide a place for filmmakers gathering at TIFF to interact and present talk sessions where they can share their stories.
There will be five main talk sessions, with this year’s Cannes Grand Prix winner Payal Kapadia, who made history by becoming the first person from India to win the prize, appearing at the invitation of Kore-eda Hirokazu. A variety of other talks will also be held, including one on co-productions between Japan and ASEAN, a conversation between a legendary Hong Kong action maestro and one of Japan’s leading directors of today, the forefront of Japanese independent cinema, and Japan, Indonesia and the world from the 1990s to today, as seen by two filmmakers of the same generation.
*TIFFFCOM ID holders can access TIFF Lounge. * Please note that admission is primarily for Pass Holders, but a limited number of members from the general public will be invited via a drawing lot. *All of the following talks will be available via streaming (recorded). *Due to the limited number of seats, we may not be able to fulfill all requests. *For more details, please visit the official Tokyo International Film Festival website (https://2024.tiff-jp.net/en/).
